Meet one of Nocking Point’s OG winemakers – the super talented, highly renowned Justin Wylie! He is responsible for some of our favorite big reds like (most recently) Jason Momoa’s Dirtbag, Hometown Red, Year IV, and one of our newest releases – Bye & Bye!

NP: What inspired you to be a winemaker?

JW: Living in Tuscany 1995-1996 and falling in love with the culture was the inspiration. When I returned home I decided to start making wine in my garage. 1998 was my first vintage in the garage.

NP: Why did you choose the Walla Walla Valley?

JW: I’m born and raised in Walla Walla. My kids (Jake, Arianna and Sienna) are fifth generation in the valley.

NP: What’s your favorite grape to grow/make/work with?

JW: Syrah!

NP: If you had to give the Nocking Point Community one wine tip, what would it be?

JW: Life’s too short to drink bad wine! Don’t over think food & wine pairings. Drink whatever you want with whatever you want!

NP: If you could make a wine with any celebrity/public figure, who would it be?

JW: Jay-Z
